Donations from film and TV production companies behind hits such as Paddington 2, Unforgotten and Marcella, have helped fund the first annual garden competition for the Harmood Clarence Hartland Residents Association in Chalk Farm.
Members of the HCH Residents Association and their neighbours submitted an impressive thirty front and back gardens, window boxes and tree pits for scrutiny.
The Judges’ Prize went to the Camden Centre for Learning, whose children have turned an unloved patch of street frontage into a beautiful vegetable garden (pictured below).
Mark Baker, who organised the competition said: “This is an unusually friendly, diverse and close-knit community, especially for London, but even so we were surprised at how many neighbours wanted to get involved. We have some very talented gardeners! We plan to be more ambitious next year, and offer more generous prizes, so look out for an even greener Chalk Farm this time next year.”
